Start where you are

You do not need a perfect plan to begin. You need one small, honest step, and a patch of soil to plant it in.

  • Beginnings
  • Clarity
A seedling with two leaves rising from dark soil

Every seed starts the same way: small, a little unsure, and buried in the dark. Nobody asks it to have the whole tree figured out first.

Yet when it comes to our own lives, we wait. We wait for the right moment, for more confidence, for the perfect plan. Meanwhile the soil sits there, ready.

The myth of the perfect plan

Most of the people I coach arrive with a long list of reasons they are not ready. Almost none of those reasons are about ability. They are about certainty. We want to know how it ends before we begin.

Clarity rarely comes before action. It comes from it.

A three-minute practice

Try this tonight, with a cup of tea and no phone:

  1. Write down one thing you keep postponing.
  2. Name the smallest possible version of it. Smaller than that.
  3. Choose a day this week to do it, and put it somewhere you will see it.

That is a seed. Water it gently, and notice what happens.

If you would like company on the journey, I would love to hear where you are starting from.

Want support putting this into practice?

Let's talk about what you'd like to grow.
